McKinsey introduced the 7S framework - seven associated factors that affect a organization's ability to change -and examines how these forces interact.
  • On Style, Skills and Staff, the focus is on 'leveraging cultural diversity' as an innovation driver.
  • System: These are operating procedures (how work is) within the organization. They tend to become more cross-functional and collaborative.
  • Structure:  Globalization and the rise of social media alter the Structure.
  • Strategy: Due to globalization and excessive competition, strategy has to be dynamic.
  • Shared value: The social function, the issue of sustainability. Incorporating social mission has become vitally important.
